Here we are … just two days from her birthday. We’ve been making party preparations and we’re so excited but yet not quite ready to let her grow up. I can’t believe she is almost 2!
Last night Lexi made up a new game which again reminded me of the Dr. Suess book “Hop on Pop!”. You can only imagine… poor Geoff. All I could do was laugh.
We were off of work today for MLK day. I took advantage of it and took Lj to get another hair cut. Her hair just seems to grow like the weeds in our backyard now days! She sure was full of herself today. When we got home I put her down for a nap. After she got up she didn’t want to put her pants back on. So I talked her into at least putting on a pair of warm tights. That pleased her and so began the wild night of independent and defiant Lexi. Sometimes bedtime doesn’t come fast enough! LOL!

l took tons of pictures yesterday and today! I can’t scrapbook them fast enough! Here’s a few favorites and a new page.

Last year for my birthday Brennen gave me a frog. A beautiful porcelain frog from Target! He picked it out himself and as Sara and Brennen walked through Target he held it saying “quack, quack, quack!”. LOL! I thought the present was PERFECT and I loved it and the story that came with it but stories sometimes take on their own chapters and Mr. Frog soon did! Lexi she also fell in love with it and every since then Mr. Frog became part of our night time routine. We would say Goodnight to all the pictures on the mantel and then we had to “KISS” Mr. Frog. First Lexi kissed him and then she made us kiss him. EVERY NIGHT!! Then we would say Goodnight to our family portrait and head to the bedroom. EVERY NIGHT!
Well, Mr. Frog met his match when shortly before Christmas Lexi was introducing him to Nana and Papa. She “accidentally” threw him on the floor and broke him. We were going to “repair” him but the next night she dropped him again and poor froggie has been coming apart every since (now we’ve been kissing him as well as his “boo-boos!”). Last weekend Geoff thought he had found a replacement (a frog sitting next to a snow globe with a heart inside) but as soon as she picked it up, she dropped it and broke it! Yikes! So yesterday Lj and I went shopping and found the NEW Mr. Frog… a plush UNBREAKABLE frog that even has “kiss me” on his chest!
So today was THE day… the day for Mr. Frog #1 to go bye-bye! I photographed the entire event. Lexi is happy with New Mr. Frog and has just went to bed with him in tow. (Good sign!)
When our little Lexi does meet her frog prince, I’ll just have to let him know that she kissed a lot of frogs to find him!
Last night a rare opportunity presented itself… for about 5 seconds! Kudos for Daddy for trying to get a picture of it! Needless to say this was the best we do. Our Little Lexi Lou Who was on her way UP!
So far I’m keeping up! I know some of the pages will be familiar as I can’t stop blogging when I can find time and energy. I should be doing laundry and cleaning the house since Lj is playing contentedly by herself but what am I doing??? Digital scrapbooking is an addiction!
Speaking of “who” … who would have ever imagined Lj’s hair would grow so fast?? She now LOVES to wash it herself and makes a big fussy fuss when we rinse out the shampoo! I swear she looks like she belongs in a Dr. Seuss book!
I was off of work today to take Lexi to the dentist. This was our second appointment as we are watching her teeth very closely. The dentist believes that she may have a genetic teeth disorder that causes the teeth to come in with missing enamel. Her first 6 teeth were fine but every one that has come in since is missing enamel. Everything was fine now but we really have to make sure her teeth get brushed a minimum of 2 times each day and now we are starting to floss. Imagine that! Flossing with soon to be 2 year old! She did pretty well tonight though. This morning while I was making her egg, I gave her a banana. I haven’t done this in a while since Mom mostly feeds her breakfast and before I couldn’t get her to eat them. But this morning I learned that likes bananas (just like Nana said). I couldn’t help but watch her as she investigated the banana. It was so sweet and innocent. This is one thing about children that I love… they make you look at ordinary things in extraordinary ways. I remember being enthralled with Sara as a baby even as far as just watching her sleep or looking for what seems hours at the the swirls of hair on the crown of her head. I guess it’s been awhile. I have to say it’s a nice place to be to stop and take time to enjoy even the smallest things about Lexi. I know I’m 27 years older since Sara was born but somehow I think having Lexi at this age is awesome. I have so many more life experiences to pull from and I’m a more confident mother this time. While some people laugh and think I’m nuts for beginning all over again (essentially having 2 only children), I truly believe this was God’s path for me. So as I pondered these things this morning watching her with the banana… I did like I usually do and grabbed the camera!
Melissa has been telling me about how cool it is to post using Live Writer. I figured while I was borrowing her computer I would give it a try and as usual I’ll be using my two favorite homebodies.
I’ll be downloading this to my computer as soon as I get it back! It sure makes blogging easier! Mine is being repaired as I have totally worn out the left click key! Melissa loaned me hers for the weekend to keep me from going through computer-withdrawals over the weekend!

Melissa has encouraged me to try to do the 365 Days of Photos Challenge. I'm trying to as you can see am already struggling to keep up. Melissa is making her own pages while I'm just using a templete that I bought from WeedsandWildflowers.com. All I have to do is take the pictures and drop them in on the right day. Easy enough right? Not so much! I'm going to try though. So for now I'm caught up. I'll post them as I finish the pages. I'm sure I'll be doing some layouts of my own from time to time too because sometimes there is more to tell and it's hard to choose from one photo per day! Like this one from today... I love this shirt! But Lj is becoming harder and harder to photograph. She runs from me or like today just wouldn't look at the camera. I can't wait until she likes something enough to bribe her with it... you know like, "Lexi, I'll give you a cookie if you say cheese!" For now, nothing works!* Click on each picture to see it HUGE.
Lexi cracks me up sometimes! She thrives off of routine and lately wehave noticed a few "quirks" in her personality. In the evenings when Geoff comes home she follows him to the bedroom when he changes and makes sure he puts his shoes in the right spot. In this picture, she added her shoes too. She does this at Mom's too. And since it's been coat wearing weather this week she has picked up that Mommy hangs her coat up so now her coat must be hung up as well. I hope these traits help later on and she will be the opposite of her sissy. When Sara was growing up, it was up to me to clean her room. I couldn't get her to organize anything! In fact, when she was older when it was time to clean her room I would pull the polycart up to her window and open it up and fill it by throwing her junk out the window!! So I guess a little more organization in Lexi would be great!
We've had the coldest winter here in MANY years! It's been freezing during the night for days and will continue to do so through next week. Today when I came to get Lj her cheeks and nose were rosy red. I can only imagine how red they would be if she had been playing outside. Her daddy brought her home a new "shirt/tunic/dress" and she wanted it on. I have to admit, I would too! It is like wearing the softest blanket but she wouldn't take it off tonight so as of now it is a night gown! Her little red cheeks are the cutest!
For the last few days Carolyn and I have been on the search for a beach vacation spot. We learned last year to book early for the better spots. This is going to be our view this summer! It's freezing cold here and we are so excited about a whole week of sun and sand in the summer! I've always wanted to STAY on the beach. Here we will be 30 steps from our backdoor to the sand. This has been a rough week at work and now I have something nice to think about... something to look forward to. I can just picture us grilling on the deck with the sun setting as the summer breeze blows with little Lj playing on the deck. Ahhh... heaven on earth! And just think, Lj may even be potty trained by then!
Last night we did our usual New Year's Eve celebration at Aunt Carolyn and Uncle John's house. We cooked low country boil, set off a few fireworks for Lexi and played a board game. As usual we enjoyed ourselves very much. Lexi does really well with the sparklers but when we did the fireworks she was very solemn and her expression never changed!
